I'm sure Dell will release some details at CES 2011. That tradeshow begins this Thursday.

I for one was super dissapointed to see Intel get in bed with the RIAA and add hardware level video encryption to their new chips. This is a definite first step backwards for the average consumer...it's bad enough we have to worry about net neutrality, now we have to worry about our PC blocking what we can and can't do.

What exactly does this mean to the average user?
Does this mean that on a system with a Sandy Bridge CPU, you cannot download and watch a pirated movie?

It just means that on Sandy Bridge if you stream 1080p content, you can't pirate it or rip it off for making your own copy. This is because they have added some sort of security layer to persuade studios to stream 1080p content without worries of piracy.

Honestly it is just a waste of time, there are smart people out there to figure out ways to dupe the system and pirate anyways. They don't realize that they need to tackle the demand for piracy.

Get AnyDVD from SlySoft. I don't pirate anything. If you do, you're the cause of the problem. I buy what I want. But if I buy it, I get to do what I want with it (rip it, transcode it, back it up, etc.). I didn't buy my first DVD until I got AnyDVD. Now I have around 400.
