when i first got my l502x i updated the intel graphics driver to the latest version (8.15.10.2361) from the version on the dell website (8.15.10.2342)

i had to do a clean install when i got my ssd and now when i try to update to 8.15.10.2361 from 8.15.10.2342 i get a "the driver is not validated for this system. please get driver from the manufacturer"

anybody have an idea as to why i was able to update to the latest version before but not now?

No clue. What are the changes in the newer driver?

Are you sure that you didn't uninstall the old driver first? Some drivers have code that prevents the generic drivers from the Intel website to be installed.

As someone mentioned, there is a difference installing Intel driver on clean system (no msg) vs installing over Dell's Intel driver (msg).
However, I am using Dell's driver (2321) because it doesn't have a glitch I noticed when I tried Intel's drivers (2342 or 2361) on my L702x. That glitch was brief flashes of the entire display (1080p non-3D) while on battery (not plugged in), seemed to relate to idle and/or mouse movement. I hope Dell updates their driver, since I use the latest WiDi.

I can't use intel's driver either and that was on a clean install, I had to use Dell's.
