Just got the M1530 yesterday, and tried connecting to my DLink DIR-655 router wirelessly. Both the laptop and the router are in the same room (within 7 ft.), and they only connect at 48Mbps mostly, sometimes 54Mbps, and definitely not using 802.11n (network connection reports its using 802.11g).

I've checked router settings and properties for the Intel Wireless N settings, all seem fine.

Has anyone encountered this problem or know how to get the faster speed?

    Thanks,
    Dave

    I got the same setup.
    1. Check your laptop's device manager
    2. Go to network adapters and right click the Intel 4965
    3. Go to properties and then to advanced (i believe) and check whether the 802.11n mode is enabled.

Or, go to your 655 and check which it's broadcasting on. Mine is broadcasting on g&n since I have another laptop that only has a g.

Or, setup your security with WPA(2) since n only works to its fullest with that enabled.

    Good luck

Yes, 802.11n Mode is enabled. And the DIR-655 is broadcasting in all modes (a/g/n). Channel Width is set to Auto (20/40MHz) on both the router and laptop. The network SSID is invisible, but that shouldn't matter because the laptop connects to it. Security is WPA-Personal. Other devices are connecting to the same router with no problem, but they're all b/g devices.

I don't know what to tell you. I have an additional g laptop, Wii, and an ipod touch all connected to the 655 and my 1530 is connected at 130mps.

Where'd you connect your 655? Mine's connected through a cable modem and my old desktop.

If all else fails, try installing the 655 again.

    Good luck

Have you tried updating the firmware on the router? I know this sometimes fixes compatibility and speed issues with wireless cards and routers. My M1530 connects with no problems with the latest firmware.

Ok, finally figured out how to get 802.11n working:

Change WPA Mode to "WPA2-only". Now I have to see if all my other devices support WPA2.

    Thanks for all your help!
