Within 5 minutes of unpacking it I installed my 320GB 7200 WD HD and installed Vista 64 with the disk I got thanks to this forum and quickly d/l and installed all the drivers I needed thanks to this forum and then installed MediaDirect 4 with the ISO image I got thanks to this forum. I have tested every feature I can think of, webcam, blu-ray, sound, networking, etc and everything works great. For the video driver I guess you can't use the modified drivers if you want to play blu-rays due to their copy protection so I d/l the latest drivers from nVidia and did the have disk trick and just picked 8600 GT manually and everything seems to be working fine there too. The laptop is physically perfect as far as I can tell. No bulges, everything lines up great, no loose parts or exposed wires. I also got the true three prong AC adapter so I don't have any tingling. I have also been using this for hours now and it barely seems warm. Even the wrist rest above the HD drive is just slightly warm. I also have a little bit of background noise in the room but I don't hear the HD at all. I am loving it so far. The only thing I need to get is the finger reader suite. I d/l it the other day but somehow it is corrupt and now the link to get it isn't working for me anymore. Even the MediaDirect 4 works great with the remote and button bar. I haven't had a single one of the problems I have been reading about here for the last two months. Hope it stays that way.

    Congrats on your purchase!

You said you installed the hard drive within minutes. Is there any way that Dell can track your tweaking of it and void your warranty if anything goes wrong?

Unless I can somehow get a deal on the HDX16t, I'm definitely getting an M1530. I want to get the biggest, fastest hard drive possible, and I doubt I'll be finding one of those from the Dell Outlet.

Dell allows user upgrades of many parts, I know memory and hard drive included, without voiding your warranty. It won't void your warranty but they of course will not cover the drive you put in yourself.

If you don't have a problem, there is no problem. I've used lots of both (well, maybe 6 2 pronged and 30 3 pronged) Never had problems with either, I can't imagine Dell being allowed to distribute improperly grounded AC adapters and laptops.
