When playing some video games on my m1710 the game begins to underclock because of the video card getting hot. How do I stop this from happening? Do I need a different video driver to stop this?

Have you tried cleaning out the inside of the laptop and reapplying thermal paste?

What're your actual temps? If the thing is actually getting too hot, then it's actually getting too hot, and probably nothing short of cooling it down is going to stop the throttling.

I think if you're under warranty, you should just call up Dell and see if they'll do anything for you... else, try cleaning out the machine as the above poster said. Else you can always try using a cooling pad, etc.
