My friend bought new xps l502x off ebay but it doesn't look new to me because there are a few minor scratches. The seller advertise it is new. not a refurbish.

Is there any way I can check for my friend if the laptop he bought is really new or it's refurbish?

You can try calling Dell, giving them the service tag, and asking if it was a refurb or not.

    This idea might help.......... "maybe"

I noticed when the dells I had coming through my house all had an initial 1st time boot up process and when ever I restored them before I sent them back the original restore point was the day I turned it on for the first time.

Maybe on a refurb they would have restore dates months earlier??? Or do you think dell refurbs actually get completely wiped from dell and reinstall 1st time boot up programs on the HDD again?
