    Doesn't get very hot at all. the most being 65 degrees Celsius and that is overclocked. Just make sure it is well ventilated like with any machine and it is a dream to play games with.

    The palmrest gets up to 36C while playing Lost Planet and the Crysis demo, stays the same when overclocked to 770/920 at room temperature (21C).

    Yes, hardware-temps are great feature on this machine;

    however many german reviews have a machine with a desktop-i7 so no wonder they are cooking your hands. (notebookcheck, notebookjournal)

    if you get the mobile (i7m <<--) temps are the last thing to worry on the xps17

    while browsing these forums, my i7 is in the mid to high 40's, and the 445m is in the low to mid 40's, so its not hot at all.
    the left palm rest does get a bit warm while playing games or watching videos etc, but its not as exaggerated as some people make it seem.
    edit: my 445m is also overclocked to core clock 712, shader clock 1425 and memory clock 912 :) so these temps are very good

    Thanks very much for the replies guys, that's put my mind at ease, but now I have a couple more questions for you...

    Is the graphics card MXM?

    What resolutions does the screen support? for lowering the resolution whilst gaming.

    Thanks again.

    i asked if it was MXM before I believe rooster on this forum said it wasn't so it doesn't seem theres an upgrade path GPU wise.

    I would guess it will fit all 16:9 ratio resolutions below 1600x900

    The screen does support resolutions up to 1600x900 but I don't see why you would need to lower the resolution. The GPU can handle any games at the max resolution. Also there is no way to upgrade the GPU since it is part of the motherboard.
