    Hello once again everyone,

I tried to take apart my notebook as part of my weekend project but I had difficulties in prying out the central control cover. I followed the instructions here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xpsM1530/en/SM/hingecvr.htm#wp1179905 but it seems that the control cover is latched pretty tightly to the system. Do I need to remove the hinge covers first or what?

    Thanks in advance!

If you are talking about the Media Direct touch sensitive strip then you need to undo the 3 screws underneath the battery first and gently lift taking care of the ribbon cable connector.

I did that already as per the instruction in the service manual but I have no idea how to pry off the touch sensitive strip. It seemed to be stuck eventhough I unscrewed the 3 screws already.

The article I read from Dell said something about using a 'plastic scribe' which I do not own. I used a plastic knife that I filed down to make thinner to pry the cover off to install my Bluetooth receiver. Worked great, but kind of nerve wracking prying on the cover.

Take a flathead screw driver and cover the tip up with some electrical tape (to prevent the metal from scratching the plastic strip). Place the screw driver in the gap on the right side of the strip and pry up. Assuming you took out the 3 screws, the unit should pop out =\. Don't know what else to tell ya.
