At 90%, it says I have 2 hours and 30 minutes remaining. How is that possible?

20 minutes later I will hover over it and it will say 4 and change...

It's perfectly normal. Battery estimates are based off of power draw, and estimate of remaining battery capacity.

When you read the battery indicator at 90%, your computer was going through some high power draw. At that rate, you would have had 2h30m remaining.

20 minutes later, your power draw went down. At that rate, you would have 4hXXm remaining.
