I'm thinking of selling my Vostro and getting myself something with better graphics performance, and I've been looking at the XPS M1730, since I've seen some good offers on eBay.

I have a rucksack that I use to carry my Vostro 1700 around in, and it works great. I need to be able to carry my notebook around, so I was wondering how much bigger/ heavier the XPS m1730 is?

    Weight: Starting at 10.6 lbs9 (4.81 kg)
    Width: 16.0" (406 mm)
    Height: <2.00" (50.7 mm)
    Depth: 11.9" (302.6 mm)

    compared to the Vostro:

    Dimensions & Weight
    Width: 15.5" (39.4cm)
    Height: 1.7" (4.4cm)
    Depth: 11.5" (29.3cm)
Weight: Starting weight at 7.71 lbs (3.49 kg)12

However, if you dont need Sli 8800m, I would suggest looking into the Sager np5793. Its a lot lighter and less bulkier than the XPS.

    15.6" x 11.5" x 1~1.8"
8.35 Pounds fully loaded including Battery

I wouldnt like to carry my M1730 around very often! Personally, I think its a desktop replacement, with the option to occasionaly take it out as and when need be. I wouldnt want to make that a regular thing though. Since being set up on my desk, it hasnt been moved!! lol
Hence the reason why Im getting the M1330 as well! lol
