I 've heard some really bad things about the 900p display, After I already ordered it. Im not looking for a contender to the RGB cause it wasn't available to me when i ordered it. Moreso against the 1080p screen. is it worth to have spent the extra 100 for the 1080p, or is the main difference between the two just the max rez. The rez isn't what im worried about, moreso the viewing angles and the vibrancy of the colours. Remember, im not comparing this to the RGB.

The RGB LED screen on its lowest settings = the WLED maximum brightness. I just had my RGBled screen installed on my 1645 and couldn't be happier

Coming from an RGBLED in a m17x I didnt see it as any brighter or more vibrant then my 1080p WLED. In fact I saw zero difference between the 2 when I switched.

I came from the 1200P LCD in my R1 and compared to the RGB in My M17x it maxes out a little bit brighter, but overall the light is just more even which makes it seem brighter than it actually is.

you must of had a faulty LED array.. There's no way it should have been like that..

I guess i wasnt clear enough. By bright i mean how the colors come across. The Lowest settings of the RGBled is how the colors show up on the WLED. They don't pop and they don't make you go WOW

Ha ha, the OP mentions twice that he's not interested in RGB comparisons, and every single post after mentions RGB...

    lol

they're both WLED LCD's, except for the resolution, there's going to be very little difference, typically the 1080p screens have higher color gamut, but the 900p isn't anything to snob at unless you play photoshop in 4chan all day long.

Very nice guys lol. i know, alot of you guys are sore over the lacking of the RGB being continued. But i think this answers my question. Its not a bad screen its just not the RGB. Im not into photoshop or anything remotely close to that. Im a IT Pro, im going to be doing a little vmware and a few other stuff on it. If there are any other IT guys here, most servers dont even really have a colour screen. I just wanted to make sure that its going to a rip off or lacking so much that video streaming is going to look bad. Thanks , i am still waiting on my laptop to show up, hopefully by friday.

    thanks,

    Joe

We should be sore. The RGBled was one of those things that made this laptop so special. Only the 1640 and the alienware m17x offer RGBled screens. This makes them very unique. The only screen that comes close to them are some of sonys. If ever get a chance to get the screen say from a repair or anything opt for it

Wow battery life with 900p = maybe 30 - 40% more then the RGB. My battery is being sucked back right now at the lowest brightness. I guess thats a tradeoff for a great screen

well thats a good tradeoff for me then. I buy a cheaper screen and goes up in battery life. What is the batterylife i wonder with the i5 450m and 4670 with the 900p on a 9cell?

ive heard 4 hours but still not sure.

it's not 30-40%.. there are triple the amount of LED's in the RGB, but led's use so little power the difference is like comparing .3W to .9W. Both very small amounts.

Im comparing it to my actual experience tho. maybe 30 - 40 % was an exaggeration but my battery life has been cut atleast an hour. Before i got just over 4 with the 900p but now im lucky to get 3. But the screen is worth it.

honestly i have the 900p and on max brightness i can last 3.5 hours doing whatever i want aside from playing games....

low brightness and power saver=4.5 hours

    low brightness+power saver+dell extended battery life+keyboard backlight off=5 hours and 15 minutes

    im using 9 cell.
