Hi all. I have no idea what to do. Dell wants to send out a technician to replace the Wifi card but I am concerned about them going under the hood of my new computer and unsure if it is necessary at all.

As of last night, things worked fine. I did nothing new or strange and when I started it up in the morning, it couldn't connect. When I restarted my router, and every time since, it simply doesn't even appear in the available wifi networks even though it is working perfectly fine with other devices.

It does connect to my phone as a hotspot so it can still function. It appears to detect less available routers than my old computer. Not sure if that is normal or a sign that a certain type of router is suddenly not showing since I never payed attention to that before but it does sometimes show as little as 40% as many routers around me than my other computer does from the same spot. Because of that, it seems like it could be related to some type of signal it isn't detecting but I have NO idea about this stuff so that's a total guess.

I did the usual things, restarted the computer and router with no luck. I deleted the wifi profile from the saved profiles and that changed nothing. I loaded the latest killer driver from Dell's site, updated to the latest BIOS, and even did a Windows "fresh start" clean installation and nothing has worked. The router sitting 1 meter away from me is not being detected and I don't know what to do. I have run daignostics and no issues reported though that seems normal given that it does work with my phone hotspot.

Any thoughts? If you don't have any suggestion on ways to resolve this, are there any specific things to be worried about with a technician coming to replace the wifi card?

Try setting a specific channel in the router?

I can try that but if that somehow works, doesn't that just avoid the underlying issue? Shouldn't my computer easily be able to connect to the router that two phones and two other computers connect to without issue? I don't want to be travelling and run into this issue every time because my wifi card can't read a specific channel. What do you think is the best thing to do?

Getting to the wireless card is super easy, even a dell tech can do it without screwing everything up. Ask for an intel card.

I guess you're right, even though helen keller could do it without messing it up, the typical dell tech could find a way. I was just thinking it may be a good way to get a free intel card to replace the sub par killer...
