Whenever I watch videos with my sxps13 unplugged and running on battery under high performance mode. I can instantly see that the video is not running at full speed. For example watching an 800x450 video, fraps shows 30fps when plugged in, but as soon as I unplug the laptop it drops to about 15fps. And shaking the mouse across the screen will cause the video to lag and skip.

I think this is just a windows thing, but I have tried editing the high performance power plan so that everything on battery matches plugged in (there was really only one, the minimum processor state under processor power management)

Is this happening for anyone else or is this just me, I have also tried different media players to rule out the media player (kmplayer, vlc, and windows media player)

    btw I am runnning windows 7 build 7100 x64
    SXPS13 with 9500m (hybrid sli)
    4gig ram

It could be a power saving mode set in the card... do you have Ntune?

    Try disabling the PowerMizer.

I downloaded ntune but my computer kept BSOD so i downloaded nvidia system tools which I believe is the newer one, where would i find this option to turn off a power saving mode set in the card.

Using the nvidia system monitor it shows that my gpu1 and 2 core clock drops more than half whenever i unplug the power.

Timeswitch: I tried disabling Powermizer using the Powermizer Switch program i found on these forums, and after disabling PowerMizer both on AC and Battery but PowerMizer is still on as i can see underclocking but now its not as limiting as it was before on battery, i guess this solves my problem I can watch videos fine now on battery, but using the PowerMizer switch now has no effect, it wont turn it off, and i checked the registry the values don't change

Lol its very strange! But I was breaking my head with the same question my first 2 weeks.. Only instead of lower fps i had pixelated videos when not pluged in and on hi power settings... I found a solution but theres a funny twist to it, it works in power saver settings only and still plays crappy in hi performance.... what u need to do is choose power saver, go to advance power options and click on pci express, there u will see link state power managment: set it to OFF on both plug and battery.... now try playing a video on power saver running on battery, Ur problem should be solved..... Even dell tech support dont know how to fix this I had to break my head for 2 weeks... Im guessing u also have the 9400mg as me and not the 9500 series card?
Well good luck let me know if it worked out
