I just bought my l502x with a bluray player. Wanting t try it out I also bought a couple of Blu rays.

At first attempt the computer cannot play the discs, even when using cybelink power dvd. So I did some googleing and downloaded cybelink bd/hd advisor.

The advisor comfirmed that my system should be able to play bluray in every respect except for one part. "The computer does not have a blu ray disk drive".

The first thing I thought was "I forgot to order it with blu ray". So i checked and whaddayaknow it's a blu ray.

So why can't I play Blu ray discs?

There is a firmware update for the bluray drive on the Dell support page (came out 2 days ago). Try updating it, and see if it works then.

Did you make any software changes? I had a similar problem after replacing McAfee anti-virus with Norton.

I ended up re-formatting and doing a clean install of Win7. Went with MSE for my anti-virus and PowerDVD started working again.
