I think this has been posted before, but i just want to re-post it for anyone who is having issues of bad performance while on battery

Note: i think this will work on any Vista system:

now, what we will be disabling is called Powermizer, it kicks in and downclocks your gpu to save battery, but personally, i dont see much difference with or without it, also, this will reset when you install new video drivers.

    all credit goes to kenside34.

step 1 - Press the "window" key + R . This will lauch a command window. Type regedit then press OK.

Step 2 - Now navigate to this registry.

\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{**a series of numbers that are different**}\0000\PerfLevelSrc

(for security reasons this has been censored, dont ask me, ask kenside, if you cant find it, its the only one that has A LOT of names, and i mean hundreds of them, all the others will have less than 10, and to find PerfLevelSrc scroll all the way down, and then 2 or 3 names up, and you will see it there.

Step 3- What we need to do once you found PerfLevelSrc is edit it by double clicking and changing the value data from 3333 to 3322. Click ok.

Step 4- Find "PowerMizerEnable" which is probably 5 ways down from "PerfLevelSrc". When you find it double click on PowerMizerEnable and change the value data from 1 to 0.

    This will disable Powermizer

Step 5 - Find PowermizerLevel and change the value to 1

Step 6- Find PowermizerLevelAC and change value to 1

Close and restart comp. You will now notice no more downclocking.

hope it helps, here is the link to the original one:
