I have a chance at a good deal on an XPS M1530. It has the 256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT card, but it also has only the 1440 x 900 display. My question: Can I use this XPS with my HP 22" w2207 display at its 1680 x 1050 resolution?

Please say yes, as this is a REALLY good deal on a nearly new XPS! :)

Thank you for any enlightenment here!

I don't know why I couldn't! I do know that when I bought this display I had to get a new graphics card for my Dell desktop because the old one didn't support 1680 x 1050. So I guess what I should have asked is if the 256 MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT card in the XPS M1530 will support 1680 x 1050 resolution.

Since that is not one of the resolution options on the XPS displays, I didn't know.

I have an 8400m GS and 1680 x 1050. As far as I know, the 8400 can even support 1920 x 1200! Your 8600 GT will do just fine.

Thanks for the replies! Now if can get there before anyone else beats me to it, I'll have a near-new, loaded, under warranty XPS M1530 for $850.
