I just had my computer repaired and now have an Optiarc DVD RW drive from my TEAC DVD RW drive. The drive works perfectly except it isnt able to read my Memorex writable disks. Anyone have any idea? They just sit in the drive and eventually it gives up and ejects the disk.

There was an Optiarc firmware update from Dell... have you tried applying it and see if it works? I am not sure though..

Ya, I did run that. The firmware is already at the newest. Seems like maybe they are just bad disks? That's why they wouldn't burn with the old drive either?

That was actually my next question! What was the issue you were having with the old DVD/RW? I found recently that mine does not burn CD's or DVD's - just causes an error.
