Am I the only one that can't seem to get a good read on my m1530's fingerprint scanner? I've never got a good read, ever... It sucks cause I'd love to use it to log in. I'm pretty sure I'm using the right technique, cause the same technique works every time on my dad's laptop...

I've found my M1530's fingerprint reader is nowhere near as easy to use as my old Toshiba Satellite A100's, which still wasn't fantastic.

Are you using the latest drivers and protector suite? 5.8.2 is the newest version and it has solved read issues for me.

Also don't follow the instructions on the tutorial, start from below the first joint on your finger and curl it towards the end of the swipe.

Somtimes wiping the reader sideways with your finger before you scan helps as well. (removes any grime that might be corrupting the scan)

Its not as easy to use as my Toshiba fingerprint reader as well, though the trick to it is keeping your finger straight out and flat while pushing downwards and sliding at the same time to apply pressure on the reader with your finger flesh. Don't bend your finger whatsoever.

No, you're not the only one Dreon. I've NEVER got one good read either. I gave up trying in the end. Because if I ever do manage to get 2 fingerprint scans to match I will probably be locked out of my laptop forever trying to get one decent scan again. It does suck. If you ever figure out what to do or get yours to work, let me know. I'm glad I'm not the only one having this problem.

Ignore that first comment. I just tried doing it how Forte described and managed to scan all ten fingers first time. Thank you so much Forte!

i actually uninstalled all the upek junk. the fingerprinter never really worked for me, but my biggest annoyance was the damn personal safe icon i couldn't delete. i hate useless junk/icons on my desktop.

It just took me a long time to figure out how hard to press. Whenever I was first trying I was pressing way too hard. Once I lightened up, I was getting good scans pretty consistently. Push as hard as if you were just wiping some dust off the reader.

I've also found that my middle finger works a lot better than my pointer finger which I assume is what everyone tries to use.

the only reason i scanned my middle finger...was...cuz it was the only way i could personally tell my fingerprint reader: "F$%@ you!" :)

Start at the first joint from the tip of your finger and move slowly over the sensor, curling over the tip to finish. It took me a few tries to get it right, but it (almost) never fails on me now.

If it's playing up consistently there might be something wrong with your scanner?
