Startup is so much faster now, about 16 seconds from button press to desktop.

It's the Samsung 830 128GB, heard and read so many great reviews about it. Got it from my local computer shop at $109. Now I'm either deciding to use my older HD as an external HD with a caddy or just an enclosure. Went to two computer shops and they all recommended Intel, I think they are good too based on reviews but it's $25 more expensive.

Anyways, totally worth the upgrade. It's also easy to install, just you got to make sure you don't break the palm-rest assembly when you are trying to remove it. Do it slowly during that step.

    Hi samguan,

Thank you for the information on upgrading the Hard Drive on the L501X. This will definitely help our other Customers who are looking at upgrading the Hard Drive to SSD. As mentioned, removing the Palm Rest Assembly may be a concern. Please find the link below to access the Service Manual for this system, which explains how to perform the same.

    I hope this helps.
