Ive been having a few issues with my 1330 relating to the graphics card heating up. Yes I do have the 8400GS.
So after a month or so of trying to see if it would fix itself, i am having more heat issues than before.
After idling the laptop over night, and it wasnt doing anything, my CPU1 and CPU2 temps were both 60 and my GPU temp was 78. The laptop is extremely hot to touch and there is a slight hint of burning plastic scent coming from it. Not only that, but the fan on the left upper hand corner seems to be intaking air but there is nothing coming out. It leads me to believe that there might be something wrong with my system (sarcasm..).
Does anyone know if XPS tech come during weekends? I live in college and it would be extremely nice if i didnt have to send me laptop in to them if i didnt have to. What are the chances I can get the whole heat issue resolved once and for all? Would dell be willing to exchange any of my faulty equipment i.e. graphics card for one which doesnt have known issues?

I had a similar problem, gpu temperature in load was around 100 degrees.
I called Dell, result - cooler exchange, during the exchange i decided to use copper mod with Arctic Creamique, the idle temperature dropped from 70 to 55-60, in load cooler lanuches around 68-70 and temperature drops a few degrees.
Support will not come at the weekends i guess NBD = Next Business Day. -
paper_wastage Beat this 7x7x7 Cube
GPU temp load is 100deg for me too...
though CPU idle temp is around 40 deg...
XPS tech doesnt really come weekends... but go online and chat with them right now... might be able to get one today if ur lucky -
Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
Since the fan's running, but you're no getting any airflow, it sounds like you might just have a lot of dust built up in your system. Have you tried cleaning the vents and/or heatsinks lately?

Clean out the fluff from your CPU cooler. You'll be amazed at the difference it makes.
I had exactly the same problem. -
Do you have the latest BIOS from the Dell site? That should reduce temps by a few degrees...
Extremely hot (1330m)
