Im wondering if it is possible to manually switch on or off the nvidia gt 525m or if this video card just works when the load is to large for the intel integrated graphics.

The reason I ask is because when I open skyrim i get the option to select what video card to use but only the intel graphics appear. When in-game it does run quite smooth which leads me to belive that it is indeed using the nvidia card. Then again when I check hw monitor I do not see the nvidia card on the list of hardware devices... Its all a bit confusing.

    Thanks for the help!

Right-click on the desktop, goto NVidia Control Panel. Under the "3D setting" option there is options to set the default system GPU. There is also a tab where you can override these options on a program-by-program basis. You can add the proper .exe to this list and set it to use the NVidia GPU. Note that others have reported that you must use the .exe for the game, NOT the launcher. I'll try to find the link for you.

Here's the post in a recent thread (about 10 down the page from yours...): http://forum.notebookreview.com/dell-xps-studio-xps/625024-skyrim-xps-15-l502x-anyone-2.html It's the same procedure for the 15z.
