    I know the xps is supposed to be better, but if given the exact same specs for both machines is there really a difference in the displays? Both machines have different part numbers for what appears to be identical displays.

    Anyone know if there is any difference?

    i seriously doubt there would be any difference. especially significant enough to notice (even side by side comparison).

    in all likelihood, they all come from the same batch of LCDs. the part number probably only differentiates between models for inventory purposes.

    If the 1710's screen was seriously better, would it still be worth the rediculous price difference?
