So I just installed the "Dell Approved" (>_>) drivers on my new XPS, and on the nVidia control panel it says I have ForceWare version 156.63, which I know is extremely old. However, when I try to install anything more recent, it gives me an error saying "The NVIDIA setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." I hear talk of members here having versions 17x.xx on their XPS Laptops, and I was wondering: What's wrong with mine? Where can I get compatible versions of the new drivers?

On nVidia's site, it says there's a difference between desktop and laptop drivers, but Dell can't seriously be that far behind as to only provide support for 156.63, can they?

EDIT: Oh yeah, I'm on Vista 32 bit.

Nvidia don't provide drivers for laptop GPUs.

You can use the laptopvideo2go website listed above or you can get an official 174.31 driver from the Dell site. Just look under the Inspiron 1520 drivers and downloads page.
