ive had my xps m1530 for about i month now, and i bought it with the wsxga(1680*1050) screen and im begining to regret this cos of the grainyness

would it be possible at some point in the future to downgrade to the 1440*900(LED) and possibly sell my wsxga for dell to use as refurbished parts

Is it the graininess or the small size of icons/text that bothers you? I'm about to receive my 1530 with nearly identical specs tomorrow, and although I don't have first hand experience yet, it seems that the main reason the screen is grainy is that it is a bad screen made by samsung, while the 1680x1050 screen made by LG is much better and has none of the dark spots and graininess associated with the screen you most likely have. There's a long thread about replacing the screen on this forum, check it out and see if you can contact Dell to have them ship you a replacement screen with the LG parts number, I'm going to do that as soon as I get mine because I already know that it shipped with the Samsung.

the small size of icons/text doesnt bother me at all, its just the grainyness, ive had my laptop for a month so i doubt ill b able to send it bak to replace the screen and anyways its close to impossible to get an LG for the size screen, not worth the trouble
