If anyone has a similar build dell how has it perforemed in general and how has it performed with games. I mainly would play games like sims 3, doom 3, Stalker: clear sky and crysis.

That's the 1647. You will probably encounter the throttling issue and be unable to play any 3d games.

what on earth is the trhottling issue and why wouldn't i be able to play any games, thats insane!
Im guessing you have these same issues seeing as you have a similar spec laptop? -
There are two huge threads detailing the issue of throttling on the 1645 and more recently the 1640. Seeing as the 1647 is not a huge difference in power requirements it seems reasonable to assume the problem will affect it as well. Yeah i checked out that thread, so have you still not sorted out the throttling issues with your XPS? I heard if you play games off batery it slightly solves the problem no?

Slightly. So far the only satisfactory fix is a 3rd party program called Throttlestop developed by Unclewebb, which can only be safely used with a 130W PSU or greater.
Does anyone have a similar spec XPS 16 or does anyone know the model number?
