I know this question has a rather obvious answer, however I was wondering what kind of games can the ATI 3670 - 512MB graphics card handle? I was hoping to get the 4670 card however the only option available to me from the Dell websites in the countries near me only have the 3670 listed.

What kind of performance can I expect for games such as Left4Dead, Company of Heroes, Battefield 2, Dawn of War 2? I'm hoping to get the highest res screen, though don't mind not playing at native res. Additional to this I will probably get a processor along the lines of 2.5.

Pls don't quote benchmarks as I find them impossible to grasp as I am not a heavy PC gamer but would prefer to play some PC exclusives (especially latest RTS games).

    Thanks.

Those aren't very demanding games. You shouldn't have problems running the games with a 4670, unsure about 3670. I'm not sure about upcoming games either, but those games are somewhat old, so in most of the cases you shouldn't have problems.

with 4670, i think u could play all those games u mentioned on maxed graphics, fullhd res. with 3670 u'd need to make some compromises to play smoothly. in general, 4670 has 1.5-2.0x the performance of the 3670.

Yeah those are older games. You should have no problem playing those with either card (maybe left 4 dead? Haven't played that)

I have the 3670 and I can play pretty much everything fine. Typically I run games in 1280x720 with max in game graphics and get ~30 fps (sometimes more, sometimes less. Depends on the game)

Basically if you're a gamer, 4670 all the way. I bought my laptop before they offered it. Though I can run things fine with the 3670, if I bought it again I'd definitely nab the 4670.

Where are you that they only offer the 3670?

i play BF2 with ati x700 on 1400x1050 with low settings just fine, so 3670 should handle it pretty well :)

My 3670 can handle L4D at 1920 x1080 on high shaders set to high not very highruns @ 45-55 FPS i can play RE5 in 1280x720 at high settings runs @ ~35 FPS(never tried pushing it further res wise) Batman Arkham Asylum @1920x1080 w/bloom,motion blur, and dynamic shadows off... runs @ ` 30-37FPS the 3670 games really well especially with modded drivers using catalyst 9.10 but RE5 and Batman AA are more demanding than those other games so no worries but if your wondering my 4670 does lots better

Thanks guys. Those responses were better than I had hoped for. Do you guys think the 3670 could handle any new or upcoming strategy games like Heroes of Newerth, StarCraft II or Dawn of War II? I think most of the games I play on the PC will be either MMO's (thinking SW: Old Republic) or strategy games (which are usually less gpu intensive than other genres).

I'm from Sri Lanka, a pretty big island underneath India. Unfortunately the Dell re-sellers here only offer the SXPS 16 with pretty poor specs for really high price. Was trying to get it off my bro in Hong Kong but was holding out till Win 7 came preinstalled. Just my luck that a few days before Win 7 Dell HK run out of SPXS16's with no plans to restock. Then tried my aunt in India, however now it seems there they only offer the 3670. poor luck.

Anyway, enough of my sob story. If the 3670 will be able to handle those games, then I think I'll finally have to give in. The Dell India site is offering a "new" Studio 17, with a RGBLED screen, full HD res and 4670. Cheaper than SXPS16. Might go for that, tho the actual look of the machine isn't that appealing..
