Hey guys,
Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between these 3 model numbers? Aside from the numbers : )
-
Here is my understanding as of today. Things may have had addtional options in the past.
1640: c2d, i5m, i7m, i7qm; only ati 3670 gpu
1645: i5m, i7qm; only ati 4670 gpu; heatsink over southbridge; redesigned heat vent
1647: i5m, i7m (no i7qm); ati 4670; rest same as 1645
Hopefully others can expand upon my list so we can all have a clearer picture. -
The reason I ask is because I am getting a replacement for my 1645 and the rep was trying to tell me that the chassis on the 1645 has been redesigned (after the one I have with the 5-slotetd vent?) and I am just not positive they know what they are talking about: Agent (Bhaskara_52073):
"Chris you may be sent with the new replacement computer and it may be the same 1645 computer since that computer is still under production and there has been some changes with respect to the bottom chassis , that are redesigned to overcome heating issue , and there may be the same hardware configuration." -
the 1640 does have the 4670 gpu; I do not believe the i series are part of the 1640's...

1640 have the Core 2 Duo CPUs, up to a T9900
1645 have the i7 quad cores, i.e. 720QM and 820QM (920XM can fit, but extra TDP)
1647 have the dual cores, i.e. i5s and i7-620M (can fit quad cores, however then it'd be labeled a 1645 instead)
All the above have the 4670 (some 1640s have the 3670).
Also the 1645/47 have better cooling to the southbridge, so cooler touchpad.
I've owned the 1640 with the ATI 3670, 4670, and now have the 1645. -
hmm........
Diff. b/w 1640/45/47?
