    Hey ya all!
I am new to this forum, actually its kinda the first forum that I have joined properly and have cared enough to write something on it lol
I am going to get my XPS 15 with i5 (mostly basic config except for the bluetooth) and 720p screen in like 3 days Yayyy!
& since many of you already have the 720p so I was wondering if someone could upload some kind of SCREEN REVIEW of your 720p screen, it should be detailed with all the angles and gloss. Even if you don't have time you can just explain in plain English because I really need someone's response who's actually USING it.

P.S: I was going to buy the 1080p screen but as its not available anymore so I had to settle for the 720p screen, which from what I have read on different forums and reviews is FINE and performs well.

    Thanks in advance!

i dont have a xps 15, but 720 on a 15.6 does not look that pretty.

Hmmm....but its not available anymore, what do you suggest I should do now? I am so confused! I am already spending like a 1000$ on it without the 1080p.

Are you worried about the resolution or color or viewing angles or what?

I'm going to concur that 720p on a 15" screen isn't going to be great simply because the pixels are so damn big at that point, but that doesn't mean that a 15", 720p screen can't be decent in other regards.

Chances are, though, that it's a normal, boring, cheap panel that isn't going to be great in those other regards either...

I have a 720p on my XPS and all i can say (except talking about resolution) is that the scaler (probably thanks to the Intel IGP too) works GREAT and in gaming u can hardly notice the difference between native resolution and downscaled :)

Viewing angles are not going to make much difference for me as I ll be the only one watching the 'complete home theater' i.e; xps 15 (as dell claims it to be). But the average quality and color details is more important to me, a cousins of mine has hp g42notebook with normal hd hp screen that looks fine to me once I am sitting in the right spot. But I expect a little something more from my XPS' truelife 720p :s is it too much to ask for?

    O that's a relief to hear!
Finally there is someone who ll share it with me! :) Welcome aboard friend!
yeah I read about the gaming thing that it doesn't make much difference, but what I am concerned about is movies, pictures n stuff? Like their colour detail should be better than average.

Just out of curiosity: As you guys are online right now, is there a way that we could chat on this forum?

Thank for the reply! both of you! ;)

Please try to avoid double posting... there's a "multi-quote" button if you want to multi-quote...

As far as I know, "TruLife" only means that it's shiny. In some cases that helps with color, but definitely don't take it as a guarantee of a good panel. And of course, I bet there are a variety of different panels used, so your 720p screen could be better or worse than the next guy's.

No chat room on the board unfortunately.

Check those screens and evaluate by yourself :)

One of them is at native resolution, the others two are downscaled. By the way you should also be able to evaluate colors :)

haha I am sorry about that, it was like my first reply to any-post-ever so I was naturally excited :D (the very reason why I am making some typing mistakes that look like grammatical mistakes)
yeah I have read it too, so do you have any idea what Dell is using these days in their xps'? Any inside info?

It sucks that we can't chat here :(

Last one looks great! but could you please take pictures from different angles too? While playing some movie or having some pictures on full screen, while the machine is on maximum resolution =)

    much much appreciated!

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

By the way my name's Simon :D

I'll make some more photos once i come back home this evening while watching movies o playing some games :)

    Talking about the previous photos:
The third image is the downscaled one to 1024*600 (and believe me is awesome ;) )
The first one is native (but with large icons) while the second one is 1280*720 (aka 720p).

P.S. photos taken with an iPhone 4

There are 3 manufacturers: mine is AUO Optronics and the model is AUO22EC
    the other two are:

    LGD0266 (LG-Philips)
    SEC5441 (Samsung)

Out of the box probably the best looking is the LG one, btw the others are good to imho :)

Nice to hear that! I am not going to use it outdoors, it ll be mostly in my room so that's not a problem. All I want is that under normal circumstances it should work good enough to impress anyone who wonders why I paid thousand bucks for this machine :D
How is the performance? Like multitasking? n especially does it get any slow after 3-4 hours usage?
    Thanks for reply!

So only the vertical angles ll be a little annoying I guess, don't see much problem with side angles. ;-)

That's what I was wondering before that why does icons look bigger, thanks for clearing it up.

Please edit your profile (and delete "send amessage via Skype ..."; it is messing up the forum and making it a pain to read.

Go to Control Panel, Device Manger, monitor, generic pnp monitor, properties, go to the details tab, and select hardware ID form the pulldown menu.
