I'm considering getting the latest Dell XPS15 that is coming out in a couple of weeks.

I'm trying to decide if I'm going to splurge on the Design Studio for $75.

Does anyone know how this looks? Does it change the casing at all other than in an aesthetic way? Are the designs hardy or do they rub or scratch off easily?

Thanks so much for any input people can give.

Good questions. I can say for sure that it is only aesthetic, but I don't know how resistant to damage it is. The descriptions do suggest that it is more than a thin coating, but I don't have any direct experience with it. That said, I did splurge for it and went with the Product (Red) red gradient. I guess I'll find out!

You can check out this video on youtube,
    e.g. YouTube - DELL XPS 15?Studio 15????????????
the Studio Design is Studio 15, it looks quite shiny to me, and looks like completely different texture to the original one. Hope it could help...

I was at my local microsoft store the other day and saw a bunch of xps 14s with what appeared to be the Design Studio covering on the lid. There were 3, each with a different baseball team image on them. Upon close inspection, they looked like thick, glossy stickers, stuck right on top of the beautiful aluminum lids. I tried to peel it back with my fingernail, but I couldn't do it easily.

I never did receive any confirmation that these "stickers" were actually from the Dell Design Studio, but i have a feeling they were. I didn't like it very much. I think the bare aluminum looks much better. Just my opinion.
