    HI there guys,
I am new here and I'm looking for some help with my studio XPS.

My laptop screen has been crazy last week, till it finally crashed last night.
The problem started with innocent blurry texts, followed by graphic card controller's errors and finally not even the Dell Logo at the start screen can be correctly drawn by my graphic card.

At this point I've decided to replace the motherboard, which in my case is Y517R according to the sticker behind the battery.
My problem is that I can only find Y507R on the net, which seems just the same apparently except for the graphic card:

    My Y517R: ATI 4670
    Availabe Y507R: ATI 5730

So my question is, will Y507R be compatible with my computer or are there more diferences?

Hope you guys can help me to solve this out, I will buy a new motherboard as soon as I get an answer.
    Thanks in advance! :)

Hi!! So sorry, I COMPLETELY missed your post! :( I have no idea how, but I was just re-reading the thread and saw this. If you want next time, just PM me! It'll be quicker. :)

From what I recall, yes, they are compatible. They were sold at the same time and I was able to return my laptop and accidentally get the 5730, so it *should* be OK.

However, I would be a little cautious, as with all technology, because it might not work for no reason. :( Thus, if you can find a place with a decent return policy, that would be best.

Does anybody know the exact specifications of 'Y507' motherboard?

    This seller sais:

    Chipset Manufacturer: Intel
    Graphics Card Type: Integrated
    Socket Type: Socket AM2
    Application: Laptop
    Form Factor: BTX
    Hard Drive Interface: SATA
    Memory Type: DDR3
    FSB / HT: 667
    Model Number: 1645

As far as I know AM2 socket is for AMD desktop computers, not intel laptop.
Guess the seller mistook, already wrote him.
Do you guys know wether the other specifications are right?
