I have received by new XPS 1645 on 2-Apr-2010 :D

Yesterday while cleaning the laptop lid (thanks to its fingerprint magnet nature) the E and L letters of the DELL logo came off.

Please tell from where can i get the sticker replaced ??

The picture of the peeled logo is in the attachment

Have you tried contacting Dell? I'd explain the situation to them, they may replace the entire lid for you. Otherwise, you may have to order one from Dell Spare Parts.

I have written a mail to them, lets see what they say ?

Replace entire lid for just a sticker peel ??

Maybe they can provide just the sticker !!!

    oh...!!!

Are you sure ? I thought that the upper lid can be just removed and replaced with another one as it is separated from lower lid by the aluminium row.

So is it advisable to get the lib replaced or should i just put the peeled logo back with some feviquick ?

    Thanks hitokiri1.

Is it OK to get the LCD replaced..means there are no hardware faults coming due to replacement of LCD ?

Well, in my case I had them replace the LCD due to Sticker peeling a twice now. (with the WLED) this time they replaced it and sent me the RGBLED display (original config) which i do not want. Instead of being overly blue i now have an overly Green display.

aside from that there have been no issues.

Mine came off too. How are we to persuade them to replace it for us?? I just bought it around a month ago. Any idea?

    You can't !!!

They do not have logo as a separate part.

At most what they will do is replace your FULL LCD screen. To which they will readily agree as it is the refurnished screens which they give as replacement. So they get your brand new screen and give you a refurnished screen, what else do they want !!!

Hence, if you have the peeled off part just try to stick it back with some instant adhesive.

I had this happen. If you have Complete Care they will replace the entire lid.

To the OP: You are not alone in this issue.

To my dismay, the dell logo E fell off my 1645 lid a couple months ago too, in addition to some lcd issues i was having. Dell sent a replacement lcd to fix both the dell logo and screen issue (screen assembly is all one piece). I was content until about a week ago, when the same damn E in DELL fell off AGAIN! And to my surprise, the upper right portion of the screen is coming off the lid housing (no longer flush). There's some quality issue with the logo, and it might be related to the heat melting the crappy glue dell uses, but i do have to say that my screen/ lid does not get that hot, so there isnt much evidence to my theory, at least with my 1645.

BTW, I dont have CC, only the original 2 year warranty and they replaced my lid without much hesitation, so i dont think CC is necessary for them to fix it.
