I received a big 90W power brick with mine (compared to the typical small 65w adapter). Has Dell changed the power adapter they ship with the M1330.. This one is ugly and big (also heavy)!

Not sure, but the 1330 I received 2 weeks ago is the small 65w. Does the one you received have the round plug or octagon plug?

Round plug... Could you check the model on yours ? There should be a line which says something like "PA-9 family" or "PA-12 family" below the "OUTPUT" line of the adapter (somewhere around the fourth row)...
    Thank you!

I think it depends on what your laptop has. My 1520 with the x3100 came with the 65w adapter but I swapped with a friend for the Pa-10 when I upgraded to 8600

The larger adapter will charge your batteries much faster.

I was told (unconfirmed) that on XPS systems that are ordered with 9-cell batteries you would get the larger charger.

Thanks guys. It will charge faster but I chose M1330 purely for its portability. Big brick power supply doesn't lend itself to portability.

I did order the 9 cell as well. Maybe that's what it was.
    Hmm.

But I've made three previous orders with 9 cell and received the small adapter every time.. so..

I got the 65W + octagonal connector with my 9-cell based configuraton. I'm not even convinced that it will charge faster (or if it should...). Afaik, the charging circuit in the M1330 regulates the charging process.

If you want portablility then I'd order the original version and keep both (paying for the second one, obviously).

The brick charges faster, because it is rated at a higher amperage

Something else I noticed that has probably already been mentioned somewhere on here... I got the 65w revision A00, then I requested a replacement due to the wobble (which was resolved by the new laptop) and it came with a 65w revision A02. The differences that I could notice was that the A02 has a small rectangular light indicator while the A00 had a larger circular light indicator (that was kind of bright and annoying at times). Also, the A02 appears to be a tad smaller and lighter.

Yes, well it certainly means that the brick can/could charge faster, but only if the charging circuit in the Notebook draws said increased current...

You got the 95W Standard Adapter by mistake. Ask Dell to send you the 65W Standard Adapter or still better the Dell Slim Adapter.

Call me old fashioned, but I like the old adapter WAAAY more than this smaller "new" square adapter that came with my Dell M1330 ... sure it's smaller.... BUT i just like the convenience of the oval ones, they wrap up so nicely. Much faster to unwind and rewind up when I'm transporting my computer to and from areas.

Sure it's a little bigger, but not by much. I'm probably going to buy the bigger adapter. After I buy something to replace this puny 4-cell battery. 2:15 minute charge if I'm lucky.

I ordered a m1330 with a 9 cell battery and got the 90W charger. I just got off the phone with Dell and they are sending me the 65W charger free of charge :)

I recommend anyone in a similar situation call them and ask them to send you the 65W charger.

A bit off topic, but do you guys know if the slim adapter is compatible with XPS 1530's?
I chatted with Dell, but they are reading from the script, and XPS M1530 is not in the list.

The '.co.uk' Dell description for the slim line adapter mentions the M1530 as compatible, so I'd assume it's the same for the American variant.

Dell cannot get their act together, I guess. US page lists the following XPS systems as compatible:
    XPS M1210
    XPS M170
    XPS M1710
    XPS M2010

You will most likely get an error message stating that your adapter is not big enough (power wise) and that you will experience less performance.

On the Dell Australia online store, under the processor selection part, it mentions which adapter you get. For the T8300 you only get the 90W adapter, but for both the T9300 and T9500 CPUs you get the 65W 'light-weight adapter'.

Whoa -- dang -- I forgot about these adapters. Much much nicer than either the original 65W adapter that is shipped with the M1330s, or the 90W "original" power adapter.

Hmmm ... might have to pick one of these guys up! After I get a higher capacity battery, of course. ;)

T8300 uses less power than the t7300 so that doesn't make sense.

What is the size and weight difference between the 90w and 65w adapters (not the slim travel one)?

I checked my system configuration and see that I am getting the larger 90w one. :(
    I have a T8300 with 6 cell.

I got the smaller 65W A 00 with the 1330. (T9300). A friend of mine got a 1330 last week with the T8300 and he got a 90 W adapter. I will post a picture of them side by side soon. :)
