I was very disappointed to find that both in Canada and USA that Dell has abandoned the FHD 1920x1080 display on the XPS 15 model, and now only provides a low resolution 1366x768 display. This does not impress me much as my existing 5yr old 15" laptop (Acer Travelmate 8104WLMi) has a very clear WSXGA display 1680x1050. Most of the favourable reviews I read strongly recommended ordering the XPS 15 with the previously available FHD 1920x1080 display. So now the featured model that the reviewers got and recommended is not available to the public - What's going on?

The 1080p is available again in the USA, don't know about Canada. They were just out of stock, not abandoning it all together.

pcaker, where did you hear that they abandoned 1080p?

Yes, the 1080p screen went out of stock, but they came back a few days ago for both USA and Canada. I can see it on the website right now (+$150 for the upgrade in Canada).

As of right now, there is no Display icon in the customize section for the XPS 15.
I'm hunting for a sub-$1000 15" or 14" laptop with 1600x900 or better screen. Anybody know of one?

I only see 720p options for the XPS 15 right now. Dell has stock issues all the time, so I am not surprised.

Snake2332 you may want to post something in the WNSIB section.

It's on the Dell website. There just isn't an icon for it when you customize. On the first page where you customize colors "Select My Color" there is the option for "silver with 1080p". Dumb place to put it, but it's there.

Looks like Dell just refreshed their order page in the last 30 minutes.
