    Hello ..
Is ther anyone having the same problem that I'm?

My webcam on the XPS M1330 (LED screen) is missing .. from time to time the blue led turn on for a few seconds and then turn off .. on the device manager the webcam appear for a few minutes and then have vanish ..

I think that is a problem with the internal connector to the webcam, because isn't a driver problem .. it's more like physical ..

Someony is having this issue? Did you open you laptop to verify the connections? I realy want to open the laptop and check the cables, but I don't know what cable to I have to look for.

    Thanks

Pull off the display bezel. The one connection for the webcam is right at the top of the screen. The other connection is under the keyboard.

If you do a search for the m1330 Service Manual, it will tell you how to remove the bezel and keyboard.

You have to remove the two screws under the battery and then the touch strip will almost pop right off.

I remove the two screws under the battery .. like the service manual says ..

Looking at the keyboard, the right side pop off easily, but the left side it's hard to take off .. did you already remove yours?

It's there any other screw to remove?
I don't remove the hinge covers, only trying to remove the control center.

After removing the two screws under the battery, the right hand side will come off quite easy... the left hand side on the other hand is slightly harder... best to just pull towards yourself... almost like you were to twist it up. Should just pop off at this point.

Dont go ripping it off tho as there is a small datacable around the right hand side that you could pull off, and this can be a pain in the ass sometimes to get back on.

After this is off there are two screws that hold the keyboard down. Should be fairly easy from here.

Hey surfing10 and fellow readers. I realise this thread is already a few months old, but I'd like to add a reply nevertheless.

I've also got a xps m1330, great laptop imho, but something starts to annoy me now. Every once a while my camera seems to get unplugged and plugged in again. I noticed that it happens more often when replacing the laptop or adjusting the screen (mechanically). This has led me to believe there is something wrong with a cable and/or connection.

If I understand you correctly you've had the same problem, or not? I don't really understand why you say your webcam is missing, but maybe that's a typo. Anyway, is your problem solved, was it easy?

Hi thien - too bad to hear you've got this same problem now too.

Mine is solved, thanks to Dell I might add. In my case the whole laptop stopped working, or well, only produced colored lines on the display.

I have contacted Dell Support about it, my laptop was still within the warranty period. Next day a guy came and replaced the motherboard, the webcam, and the cable connection.
To me it seemed like they knew about the problem, and if I recall correctly they even mentioned it being some sort of fabrication error. When asked what if it happened again, they've assured me I'd receive new parts again.
