Up to this moment there were NO any fix to the XPS USB 3.0 problem by dell engineers, none of the new USB 3 drivers or BIOS update given helped, the problem is in the hardware level, also it seems the 2nd release inherited it from the first one.

If there is a fix, i think it is going to be in the NEXT XPS release NOT the current which is going to take a while i guess

The USB 3.0 failure is major concern for those who are interested in XPS, so is there any laptop similar to XPS or compete it ? Do you guys suggest any competing laptop?

    Thanks

Someone mentioned turning off the USB 3.0 power management functions helps. Did you try that? It's in the driver software.

Ive had the problem happen to me several times using the USB 3.0 ports in the back. I transfer alot of media and use a USB 3.0 external drive. It will usually work for a few minutes and then totally stop working in mid-transfer.
The only way Ive found to re-enable it is a restart.
Sometimes it has worked without failing at all- weird.

I got mine on the 15th april, but I haven't had any issues with USB 3.0, I just removed the bloatwares and optimized the laptop in the factory condition. Neither have I done anything with the power management for USB and stuff.

I have not experienced any issues with the USB 3.0 on either of my L701x or L702x systems. Regardless, below is a picture of the Dell# 45M3V USB 3.0 I/O module referenced above. I would double check the ribbon cable header connection first before replacing the board itself.
