    Dell XPS Studio 16 - Blurry Screen

    Hi Peeps,

    Got a slight problem with my screen its perfectly fine to use on other things then Internet Explorer. The images are not coming up perfectly, they seem to be blurry especially if you have the zoom on 125%, but its crystal clear on 100% zoom.

    Is it me or do i need to change things around! ATM to view pictures on sites such as Facebook the pictures are blurry!!!!! What can i do? return the laptop?

    ofc its crystal clear on 100% and blurred otherwise, if IE is the only application with the problem, you should definitely try out some other web browser such as Firefox or Opera, i dont know for certain, but the might have different resize/upscale algorithms.

    There's nothing wrong with your computer, it's just that scaled images are never as crisp as the originals

    the small images i have the most problems with, i can see hey are blurry but the question is why??? its meant to be a HD screen!

    Each picture has a resolution. The picture resolution has to be the equal or greater than your screen resolution in order to be optimal. Zooming in on a lower resolution picture will only make it more grainy.

    do you get the same issue for example if you do use fb the pictures on the main home screen come up blurry... but are fine when you actually view there profiles...

    I don't really understand what you mean about facebook pictures.

    To answer your question about why smaller pictures are worse, think about a picture as if you just laid a whole load of coloured post-it notes on the ground, with each representing a pixel. If you had a pictures made of 10x10 post-its, the detail would be very bad, right? And you understand that you can't get detail beyond what is in the original picture? Now imagine a 100x100 post-it version of the same image, much more detailed huh?

    The reason why it looks blurry instead of just blocky is because when programs upscale images, they average neighboring pixels together a bit otherwise the different zoom levels would be very limited (1x, 2x, 3x etc.)
