    Hi everyone.

I’m hoping someone will have some suggestions for my M1710 that refuses to power up (no signs of life at all). I’ve detailed the symptoms and what I’ve tried so far below:

-With only the AC adaptor connected absolutely nothing happens when the on switch is pressed.
    -I have tried 4 different AC adapters (2 Dell & 2 non-Dell)
-The battery is dead but I thought it should work off just AC anyway?
-With the battery installed pressing (and holding) the on button causes the battery light on the laptop to flash orange 3 or 4 times quickly, then 1 slow green and then continues with slow orange flashes. I'm guessing this relates to the dead battery.
-I have tried another motherboard and it produces the same results (it is second hand, but the guy I bought it from assures me it was tested and works).

Is there anything else, apart from a dead motherboard that could cause this?

    Many thanks.

    David.
