I am on my second XPS M1530. Currently fighting with dell because the original, which was replaced for freezing up was ordered more than 21 days ago. Even though the replacement is less than 21 days old, they don't care, goes by the original date.

Here are my problems, probably minor, but annoying, and on a $1700 laptop, very frustrating. The screen is OK, MUCH better than the original 1530 which was kind of "grey" looking. This one is bright, but it is not grainy, I"d call it splotchy, on a white background, it has lots of grey images and "splotches". Yeah, I know, kind of weird, but I have a dell inspron 1720 and an XPS M170 - no issues with those. The touchpad is not sensitive, I have ot really press on it. the fingerprint reader is useless junk. For some reason it likes to crash, dell says becuase of Corel Photo X2, yet it works fine in the 2 month old 1720. My mouse is also acting up, I have to "click" allot to get it to work, sometimes works perfect, sometimes, 2 or 3 clicks before it registers, if I move it to the 1720, it seems fine. Not sure what is going on with that, and yes, I downloaded the latest microsoft drivers, and it is a laser mouse 6000, so it is a good mouse.

ANy other suggestions? I am on the phone now with dell, hate to return it, but I am pretty much frustrated with dell. This is just not the laptop for me I guess.

you may want to try talking to a different cust rep but keep in mind that they keep written records of past conversations.

you bit on the "we'll send you a replacement" bit. this is just a ploy by dell to take more of your 21day return time away. You may get a better on on the 2nd try, you may not. But one thing is for sure, dell has your sale after they get you a replacement. They make it that way.

I wouldve just returned the 1st one, gotten my money back, and repurchased. I know it takes a little time for the money (its never been more than 7 days for me), but its worth it to avoid your situation.

if your outside of your 21 day return time, i dont see how you can return it though.

They sent me the return authorization, so it will go back.
