Hey guys just looking for a little bit of info since the search function didnt return what i needed.

I just received a Genuine Dell XPS M1530 9 Cell 85Whr Battery. Now i plugged the battery in and it is now fully charged but i am confused as the capacity is at 69/66whr(105%).
Isn't this battery meant to be 85whr? Is this normal as i believe my other battery which is a 6 cell is at 52/50whr(103%) and that is a 56whr battery. If so that sorta sucks a fair bit considering im loosing almost an hour of run time just in calculations the same as HDD Sizing.

Any info would be much appreciated and just for info the battery is model number TK330 i believe.
    Thanks
    Matt

What program are you using to see the capacity? Not all programs display the capacity correctly. BatteryBar does it right, while BatTrack doesn't, just to give a couple of examples.

Alright guys got a update using BatteryBar and the info it shows is,

Battery Wear 6.0% of 73,260 mWh

    Capacity 68,831 mWh

Is this seriously what all these 9 cell batteries for the XPS M1530 are like? I thought 85wh would mean 85wh not 68wh. That means im loosing out on 17mh or about an extra hour of playback :(

Im guessing all you others are in the same boat though considering my battery is still at 68/66 wh(104%) thats pretty bad.

Any explanation on why this happens?

    Thanks
    Matt

A capture from my older 9 cell battery, on a XPS M1330. It's possible that you have a dud battery.. If you are within the 1 year period, call dell and ask them to replace your battery.

Matt, I'm in agreement with sesshomaru, contact Dell and ask for a replacement. I really think you have a bad battery. Even after 6 months of a new replacement 9 cell for my 1530, my reads are pretty decent.

Hmmm, whats involved in sending it back to dell because i just bought this genuine dell battery off ebay from oversea's. Can i send it back to dell in Australia? If so will i need any paperwork etc?

If you bought it from ebay.. it's most likely NOT genuine.. Dell won't warrant anything that you did not order from them.. You got scammed.. That's all there is to it. You could take up the issue with the seller on ebay.. but I doubt that would result in any actual resolution.

It is a genuine battery, i made sure when i purchased it that it was. It has all the same logo's on it as my genuine 56wh 6 cell battery. I would not buy aftermarket crap especially in batteries. So back to my previous question then?

The logos do not certify it to be genuine.. Even assuming it is indeed "genuine", it'll not be entertained by Dell. If there is any kind of warranty, it'll have to be given by the reseller. He will be the one who can give you a replacement battery, and return the faulty battery to Dell.

If its not genuine its a pretty good copy then m8 here see for yourself, anyway how does dell know if it theirs or someone elses? This is the comparison between my two batteries now.

Anyway do you think its worth the cost to send it back oversea's for a replacement? Considering the time, cost and effort to do so? Its just a shame cause the battery is real good just a little down on WH but then i don't understand why its at 104%.

    Thanks for your help
    Matt

Well, Dell knows , since you don't have an invoice from Dell proving that you bought it from them.. :p

And as for whether it is worth sending back, it depends on who pays the cost for shipping. If you have to pay shipping charges, then buying a new battery from Dell might work out cheaper.

Thats why i purchased it off the net. The price from Dell Australia was $250 including shipping and the one i purchased was $87. Probably wont end up sending it back as i guess it is better then the 6 cell battery just not quite as good as it could be.
