    Hey guys,

I've been using my m1330 for about 7 years now with 4gb RAM. Of late I've noticed that every time i want to play a flash video in firefox it slows down drastically. Figured this may be a RAM issue (?) and therefore wanna upgrade to 8gb.

Now, i'm not very good at this and even after reading another thread on the same topic i'm still quite confused - so basically i wanna know if i can buy two of these -> Transcend 4GB DDR3L 1600 LAPTOP RAM <- and use them as 8gb for my laptop? Or even buy one and use it as 6gb if it won't make a difference?
[The pressure is on cause there are only two pieces left in stock!]

Some info i saw that was asked in the other thread:
    OS: Windows 7 Ultimate. 64-bit
    BIOS version: A13

The Dell XPS M1330 takes DDR2 RAM not DDR3. It will take a maximum of 8GB. I have 6GB in one of mine.

    Oh! Thank you!
Good thing i didn't order it, cause someone's answered that the RAM would work on m1330 on that product page, under the "Customer Questions & Answers".

It seems like the DDR2 isn't in use much anymore.
I've only been able to find two - Dolgix and Simmtronics - are these ok to buy? Any recommendations?
[crucial.com isn't an option for me cause they don't deliver to where i am.]

Nothing on any of the Amazon sites? They are usually competitively priced for memory from my experience.

Failing that how about eBay, someone may have what you want and post international :)

Thanks for your suggestion! Amazon has the same brands.

I got lucky with ebay though.

Found Transcend and Kingston – but I do not know whether they are for desktops or laptops cause when I add the word laptop to my search, these two don’t show up and it’s Dolgix again.

    You'll want 2 x 4GB DDR2-5300 SODIMMS for 8GB - try entering " 8GB Kit [2x4GB] RAM Memory Upgrade for Dell XPS M1330 DDR2-667MHz 200-pin SODIMM"

The 2 links you posted are for desktops.

Thanks man. Unfortunately what you say to search isn't available on ebay.in, and it's not shipping to India from ebay.com.

This is the best i got - 4GB DDR2 LAPTOP RAM and Patriot Signature
[I'm ok with just buying one and using 6gb for a start]

    No problem :)

At least the 6GB upgrade will give you a bit more performance.

So one of those should be ok?

I've also been thinking about buying a new laptop altogether, so this is a bit of a temporary fix, cause it takes time for me to narrow in on one cause i put in tooo much thought and as i said earlier, i'm not good at this (don't understand the hardware part at all) so i gotta learn stuff first, SSD vs HDD, the different types of CPUs, jeez the jargon!

This forum is a very good place to learn - I've learnt a lot and there are some very helpful people. I'm not familiar with your machine but if it can take a solid state drive that would give it a new lease of life in my opinion, its worked wonders on ones I've upgraded especially if using an old mechanical hard drive.
