I just ordered a Dell XPS 17 non 3D laptop to replace the XPS 17 3D version. I wanted the optimus technology and the other features like intel insider, wireless display, etc. Had a lengthy discussion with the dell tech support and the executive escalation department. OMG, did i ever see such ignorent people anywhere else?. There were lot of going back and forth, the executive support person trying to convince me that the optimus technology is available in the 3D laptops and one can not see the integrated graphics card in the device manager because its part of the processor.....Then she tried to install the intel HD 3000 driver and it failed. She said the discrete GPU is option in the L702x so some L702x laptops come with integrated GPU only. How ignorent one can be?. Anyway, after spending about 4 hours on the phone and web session, i agreed with the saying "If you argue with a fool who is the fool."
As i am aware no one has received L702x non-3D laptops yet?. Is there really a lot of difference in the screen and motherboard between them?.

    This is my newconfiguration ;-)

    Nice configuration.

My pending order is almost the same as yours except I went with 8GB and the TV module. I am pretty sure there will be only (2) memory slots, but the other features gained are worth it and I already own the 3D compatible model. :D

Scott, I think you are right. I miss using the Optimus technology. However, things get done much faster i.e. video editing so I think I would have to accept the fact that I can't use the integrated graphics anymore.

Maverick,I know this has been covered before, but I recently returned my non 3D unit because of the 900 screen, just could not live with it after a few days.
What I would like to know, is the fan noise/heat any worse with the 3D version over the std non 3D version before I take the plunge for the second time,or would I be better off to hold tough for the Non 3D 1080p LCD to come to Ireland if ever, that is the question

Dell changed the $300 off $1300 coupon to $350 off of $1500 after I placed the order. So I called dell to cancel the order. The CS offered me $100 off immediately. I thought that was a nice feature. What do u guys think?. Also my shipping date is 4/26 and the EDD is 5/3 with 7 day free shipping. Hopefully this system is much better than the xps 17 3D I just returned.
