I recently purchased a XPS M1330. I'm tempted to return it in favor of a T400 due to concerns about battery life. I own a Latitude D820, and almost exactly after a year, battery life fell within a month from 3 hours to 0.

I'm wondering if XPS batteries have similarly short lifespans as the Latitude ones. Could other owners comment?

I've had my M1330 for basically a year( got on Aug. '07) already and the battery life has still remained the same. About 3 1/2- 4 hours on average and 5 hours if brightness 0/8, wifi turned off, and power saver on.
So yeah, no need to worry :)

After a year just chuck it and buy a new one. That's what I do

What's the remaining capacity of your batteries ?
I got the system on 2nd June. The remaining capacity on battery shows 53287mw. Original capacity when I first got the system was 57720mw

Check under the battery info column of rmclock.
I started with 57720 and within one month my battery capacity has dropped to 53287mw. It has stabilised there and now I see no further drops in capacity
