Our Dell XPS 9530 will not recognize the Dell charger. I get the message "plugged in, not charging". Sometimes it will recognize it, but most times it will not.

Any idea how I can fix this? Thank you

plugged in not charging is the battery management working. no point doing little top up charges as it will kill the battery faster.

Well, is this happening when the battery is at like 50%? Or just like 90%?

It happens at various levels, and it is intermittent; sometimes it charges, other times it doesn't

When it doesn't charge, do you get the error in BIOS along the lines of "AC adapter not recognized"?

I am afraid I experienced the same issue a few days ago. Where can I check for the "BIOS error" ?

it is totally normal, if it says it is plugged in and does not popup on screen about this not being a 130w dell charger then it is running battery management to prevent doing small unneeded charge top ups. if you change the bios setting to battery mode it will not drop below 95% without topping up. adaptive and mains settings let it run lower before topping up.

I do get the popup every once in awhile about it not being a Dell 30W charger.

now and again is fine, it happens to me as well. now if it did it every time you plugged it in then you have an issue. if it says plugged in then it is plugged in

Bottom line is, it's a shame a computer at this price point has these issues.

Almost positive my next computer will be a MacBook.
