    Hey guys,

I have been a SUPER happy customer with my M1730. I originally owned an XPS Gen 2 (way back in the day). My question is, are they going to make a new successor to M1730? It's been a while, I've seen DELL come out with the new lower XPS line (13/16). Also now with the Adamo. However, I see no mention of further XPS 17XX. Have they discontinued it?

I know they purchased Alienware, but I just don't like Alienware, it looks a little to geeky for me.

If they took the M1730 and just upgraded the board so we could get the 1333Mhz RAM + G270M Video card + QuadCore (However, I'm pretty happy with my X9000).

Anyone know if they are going to do that or if they gave up on the line?

    Thanks
    Jeff.

The succesor of XPS M1730 is Alienware M17x (wich has all what you listed up).
There will be no more Dell gaming notebooks.

    No!!!

I was afraid of that. Is the M17x just the generic whitebox machines you could get at Sager, etc? I just don't like those and I'm not a fan of Alienware... Ugh!

Maybe they will upgrade the XPS 16 to gaming standards??

    Jeff.

Alienware is Dell's gaming division. True gaming systems will come from them rather than Dell proper. Some Dell systems may have a fairly decent graphics card, etc, but the true gaming systems will be Alienware. I don't think Alienware uses Clevo anymore.

The M17x is hardly a 'generic' Clevo.

But come on, the new, especially the 'Ripley' design Alienware can't be worse than the M1730 - a pretty carbuncular machine, come on, admit it - on which I could actually feel the pimples erupting on my forehead as I was using it.

    m17x's more of a Flextronics than a Clevo ;)
