    Hi all

I want to upgrade my L702X to 3D screen. Just wondering if I bought a faulty L702X with a working 3D screen, can I do the upgrade by simply replace the screen? My current video card is 3GB GT555M with Optimus. Do I need GT555M with 3D enabled to use 3D screen? Any way to convert GT555M with Optimus to GT555M with 3D enabled?

    Thanks a lot!

Unfortunately, a lot of work has to be done to change your laptop to a 3d enabled model, you cannot just switch the screen and expect it to work.

Optimus has to be disabled, because all 3D models do not have the Intel 3000 Gpu in them. I think there was an issue with 3d and optimus together, that's why dell took out the Intel chip in the 3d models. you can talk to a dell parts and upgrades representative online and see what they say.

    Thanks!

I thought the Intel graphics is inside the CPU.

As far as I know it is, but its disabled. When ordering my system I remember there was a option for a 555 video card and a 555 3d enabled video card.

I think to make your system 3d, you would need a new system board as well as the screen

I think the motherboard is different, been told the non 3D has 2 DIMM slots whereas the 3D enabled option has 4.

the motherboard (system board) are the same but slightly different as the 3d version has a 3d video card, & dimm slots. Non 3d has 2 dimm slots, optimus and widi

there may be some other differences but thats all i can think off for now
