I just got a new XPS 17, and I wanted to know if anyone has any suggestions on what backpack it would fit in. I really like the Booq bags, but even though the exterior dimensions seem to work, I do not know what they are like inside. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated thanks!

I know for sure that the Belkin Impulse Backpack can hold it, but if you want one of the best 17 backpack you should try the Swissgear IBEX :)

Swiss Gear makes two 17" laptop backpacks, the Ibex and the Pegasus. Both backpacks retail for about the same price. Locally, Best Buy sells the Ibex and Office Depot and Staples stock the Pegasus. I took my laptop with me to Best Buy and Office Depot for a test fit. My L702x with a nine cell battery would not fit into the Ibex. The zipper would not close around the laptops corners. The L702x fits perfectly into the Pegasus, with about a 1/4" to spare around the corners. Ended up buying the Pegasus online from buydig.com for much less than the local retailers price.

Here's a nice article comparing the two Swiss Gear packpacks: IBEX v. PEGASUS: Excellent 17" Swissgear backpacks compared - Wenger Ibex 17" Laptop Backpack Luggage - Epinions.com

Not exactly what youre after but might help someone looking for a photo / backpack for the xps 17. I've found the lowepro compurover fits like a glove even with the large battery sticking out. I also tried the tarmac aero 85 which is supposed to fit 17in laptops didn't come close to fitting the xps 17.

Thanks for all the replies it is helping me look for the perfect bag. I have taken a look at the alienware bags and just don't think they are big enough, the lowepro compurover seems to be in the direction I was looking gonna have to do some research on reviews for it and all but it sounds like a winner as I do have a nice DSLR that I'd rather not have to carry a separate bag for, which is why I was looking at booq to begin with. Though I do still really like the booq bags, anyone own one that might be able to tell me how big they are, the boa flow xl is huge and the exterior dimensions lead me to believe that the laptop would fit. Again thank you everyone for the input, and more input is greatly appreciated!

^^I am sure you will find something. Swiss Gear makes excellent backpacks (the ones listed above are nice).

The computrover is a great backpack, although not cheap but I managed to get one half the price that had been used once off ebay. Great thing about it is it has loads of room in the top compartment for everyday items plus you can stick an SLR and 4-5 lenses in the base. The XPS17 just fits, 5mm longer and it probably wouldnt fit. Only downsides is you have to put the bag down to get your camera gear out and it weighs a ton when fully loaded. luckily it has waist belt and good shoulder straps for extra support so its comfortable.

I'm using a backpack I've had for years now, the Decathlon Quechua Diosaz 40:

Of course, mine is in a less pristine shape than the pictured one but it can carry the laptop and some additional stuff as well. Perfect back to lug around and not eye catchy enough to tell a thief "hey look, nice hardware in there!". ;)

Nice find. That's a really good deal. If I hadn't bought mine already, I'd be heading to Walmart right now.

The swissgear carbon fits like a glove, even with the 9 cell. I mean, it is really a perfect fit, the sleeve hugs the laptop and is just tall enough to clear the laptop and let the cover flap velcro down in place.

The velcro cover flap is a nice feature because without one, the corners of your laptop always get worn down by contacting the top/zipper area of the bag.

Plenty of room for related PC stuff, but a DSLR and its gear would not fit.

Well I just got my L702x and I have booq boa xl and L702x doesn't fit in laptop pocked inside main (middle) section of backpack, but it fits just fine just outside it. Even better if you detach battery (in case of 9 cell battery). It also fits in rear pocked, but somehow I wouldn't recommend carrying it there because corners could get hurt.

Generally I'm not disappointed, as on booq's web they clearly say they do not support DELL XPS 17 , although it is a bit funny how they declared the backpack to be able to carry laptops up to 17" (on web site as well on tag on the backpack) Edit: L702x has 17" display, but it's depth includes some extra few centimeters (cca. 2) of housing, so it is not a classical laptop which completely fits under display size. Regarding this fact I'm just fine with backpack's size and ability to carry my new L702x and somehow I really find booq boa xl to be a fine high quality product. :)

Hope this will help someone else as well.

Bought an Ogio one for my Studio 17 and it's fits my XPS 17 even better. And despite being fairly low profile you can fit a disturbingly large amount of stuff in it.
