I recently ordered a B156HW01 V.4 screen to replace the 720p screen that came with my system.

This screen works with the XPS 15z right?

Does anybody know the part number for the full hd lvds cable that I need for it?

Also, do I need to buy a display bezel surround when replacing the screen?

Yeah the b156hw01 v.4 is a 40 pin. Does that mean it's compatible then?

You also have to purchase a 40 pin ribbon cable also.

I am ready to do this myself. Please let us know how it goes. I also was confused about there being two LCD purchase options.

I downloaded the service manual and it did state the bezel surround cannot be reused, but it also implied that a replacement is packaged with the new LCD (or bezel, if that's what you are replacing). It would be good to know exactly what parts need to be ordered to accomplish this.

my laptop screen is coming tomorrow and I plan to try to swap it then.

I looked everywhere for 15z lvds cables and there's only one model available even though the 15z has both a 720p and 1080p option.

I think the current monitor might have a 40 pin cable already, but can't find any information to confirm this.

Does anybody know the part number of the screen that comes with the dell 15z 720p?

According to my build sheet, it's the KW90D. That's the 1366x768 WXGA Glossy/TrueLife display.

yes but isnt that dell's part number? I've been trying to find a manual for it to see detailed specs and check compatibility.

You also have to HAVE TO HAVE TO make sure your original is not a thin profile screen, the B156HW01 V.4 will not fit in some models and you will need to get a B156HW03 V.0 instead...\

And as far as I know the LVDS cable should be dual-channel stock.

The screen does not have to come off the laptop, I didn't find out till it was to late...
the bezel has adhesive holding it on with a screw under each corner. you can lift it from the bottom
bezel and peel around and unscrew the screw where the outer rubber and plastic bezel separate.
the ultra thin screen is what you want Item ID: 795455

there are 4 screws in between where the two pieces separate.

comes off pretty easy, just peel it from the adhesive careful not to break it but it seems pretty strong even though it feels flimsy.

the 720 uses the same connection as the 1080 so no need for a ribbon cable.

Were you able to get the b156hw03 to work? I used the 1080p cable from the xps 15 and it didnt work. Should I use the original cable that came with the xps 15z?
