    Hello,

I am about to receive my XPS 17 and always like to do a clean installation of Windows upon receipt of a new computer.

I'm sure some of you have been in the same boat and I would like to hear your experiences. Any words of wisdom with this particular model you can share with me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Make sure you download all the necessary drivers from dell website before you start to install new OS. Other than that - you know what to do!

If it still comes with the Windows re-installation disc then it won't be a problem. I know my laptop I bought earlier this year had the discs but who knows if they changed. It will also have a drivers disc but I tend to grab them from their site, support.dell.com, so that I have the latest versions.

Install the Intel graphics driver before you do the following:
    -Nvidia drivers
-Intel wireless (after the wireless you can do the WIDI driver)

Those 2 can be done in any order relative to each other, but the Intel graphics are necessary first to get it all working right.

I would install the chipset driver first, then whatever you want from there.

Make sure you install the Quickset as well so you get the touch buttons at the top of the palmrest plus a few other features! THis is best done after the main drivers are done (graphics, wireless, ethernet, USB 3, etc)

And yes, a clean install is best, mine came with 90+ processes running on idle right out of the box!?!?!? It'll run much snappier after a clean install.
