    Hey ya all !
XPS 15 is going to be my first ever laptop! Yayyy!
I have spend enough time on different forums/website to know that laptops are sensitive machines and if not handled properly could give up too soon to our surprise.
So, from every techie brother of mine who has had N-number of laptops, I need tips of taking care of its screen, keyboard, protecting it against dust & heat, battery, etc etc.
Also, I need urgent info about its first inspection of quality, first startup etc, as I am go to the dealer's shop to get it.

So I was thinking I should note down a list of things that I need to check before I leave the store, I have heard about checking the screen by putting some white and black color wallpaper etc but I don't know much. Also, what are the key parameters that I should check to make sure that the package wasn't opened before? Like you know, identification of fake seals etc?

List a number of test/things I need to do when I get home to check if everything is working properly? I don't have device that supports HDMI, USB 3.0 or even a SD card, so how do I know that every one of them is working fine without using any hardware with them?

Also help me with the first startup, junk removal, optimization etc?

    Thanks in advance!

What store are you purchasing this from that makes you paranoid that it was previously opened?

Try looking at the owners' thread and the dummy guide section. All these have been covered by other users.

    Good luck with your XPS.

Computer optimization guide is great! but I was specifically asking for Dell XPS, I know you ll refer to the Owner's lounge but as you can see its too long and its a pain to find what you need in that forum. So I was thinking may be there is a special separate forum for Dell XPS' initial run?
Also share some link of this forum about taking care of your laptop and what should one avoid doing to new laptops in order to make them last long.

    Thanks!
