Just trying to decide whether to go with the XPS 13 or the 15. I like the portability of the XPS 13 but obviously prefer the features of the XPS 15. I'm sure there are some of you out there who have made the move from the XPS 13 to the 15. How is the transition so far? Has the added weight and size been manageable? Any other input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Here is a picture of the size difference. You do notice the weight when you are directly comparing he two. However, the 15 isn't all that bad for me. The features it offers far outweighs the portability of the 13.

The biggest catch you'll find is the 13 had better battery life and easy to carry.

Thanks for that comparison. I'm also thinking that the features of the 15 outweigh the portability of the 13 and battery life. I would probably opt for the FHD screen on the 15 so the battery life wouldn't be too bad. Any chance you have a couple pics of them size by side while open and from different angles? Thanks again!

This thread is one to watch for me. I am in a similar predicament, I like the fact that one can walk around with a 13" but I can't deny the 15"s capability, and to come from a M17Xr4 I would prefer a mix of power and portability (also the infinity display ;)

I have an XPS 15 9550 and I'm tempted by the XPS 13 w/ Iris. Decent power + portability is pretty appealing. Should I make the switch?

I clicked this thread because I'm in the same boat as you! I ordered an XPS 13 w/ Iris because of the weight/size. I'm not sure if I should keep the 15 or the 13. The i5 6300HQ is a bit faster than the i7 6560U even in multithreaded operations because it's a true quadcore, and it has the geforce 960. However, once the razer core comes out I'll be buying one and doing all my gaming next to it, so only the CPU will matter. I'm waiting to receive the XPS 13 so I can repaste it and check the temps. It wouldn't do any good hooked up to an eGPU if the CPU runs hot.

    Very tough choice!

Has Dell really said anything about support for eGPU through TB3 yet? There's a Dell support specialist that writes and answers questions on a Swedish forum (Sweclockers), and she contacted they who were "responsible for XPS in Europe" yesterday, and said that they don't have any plans on supporting eGPUs for the moment.

Well that would be terrible if true, but I've heard it mentioned in passing, attributed to Dell, that I assumed it was the case.

Edit: ah yes, it was the Intel thunderbolt team who confirmed it on Twitter "Yes, the new Dell XPS machines are Thunderbolt 3 certified. More information about capabilities are available from Dell: Dell XPS 15 laptop, Dell XPS 13 laptop, and Dell XPS 12 2-in-1 laptop."

Indeed it would be :|. Also, that tweet doesn't say anything about eGPU, just that the models are TB3-certified if I'm not missing anything? Dell would still have to update their BIOS.

I had the 15 and swapped it for the 13. I wasn't planning on doing any gaming so really the 15's potential was wasted on me.

The 13's size is more comfortable for my uses as a daily driver - the weight difference is more significant than the numbers suggest.
